Right fellas, so as you know the navara i have at the minute is an absolute pile of shite, its just blown its second turbo, and at approx £500.00 for a new part...for the second time... the dam thing is crippling me. So far it has had the following replaced since june 2010
Clutch and flywheel x 2
Turbo x 2
Oil pressure sensor
Oil level sensor
Crank angle sensor
new set of gear box mode switches
Full replacement of the entire central locking system
Replacement of part of the air con system.
New 5th gear assembly
new alternator and belts
new starter motor
new rear light and front light clusters
bearing/bushes/pads/oils the list goes on and on
plus loads of other problems.... it went back to the people that i bought it off no less that 12 times, and weve had it in the workshop every other saturday since.
Obviously i need to get rid...somehow.... but would you run an old clapped out vehicle that cost tuppence and spend all you earn maintaining it or run a nearly new vehicle still under manufactures warranty, and not worry about maintenance apart from your normal stuff?

I went legal with arnold clark, and managed £1000.00 in compensation and a years extended warranty - dont get one of these if they are offered there shit. The finance company refused to help, after 3 days of driving off the forecourt i was on the phone telling them to come and pick it up, give me my deposit back and unwind the finance, but they wouldnt/couldnt do it.
I took part in a nationwide trading standards investigation into them last year.
But that isnt the point, when something breaks, it means time of work, plus buying the part which starts costing a bloody fortune
So old shed or new hilux?

Ive been happy with my navara so far, 57 plate done 72k miles (42 of them was me).
I would get a better vehicle. The time it is off road is costing you money and it doesn't look good if you show up at a quote or a job in a beat up sh*tbox.
I wouldn't get one still under warranty but I'm quite happy doing most mechanical work and the stuff that I can't do I have a very good mechanic who will do the work in exchange for bottles of gas.

Because Mick, i want it to double up as my car, i dont want to a run a van and a little car, too much expense, so i reckon a pickup and trailer combo is a good compromise? Plus its better for towing, off roading - which i do a fair bit of, taking birds out - which i try and do a fair bit of etc etc
I bet most lads on here who run a van, also run a car?

All you'd need to go with your transit is an 0800 number and an "Ask driver for details"
LOL
