Any advice please how to edge my concrete drive with some 100mm square limestone cobbles I have. The concrete drive borders on grass. In particular how deep does my foundation have to be and what sort of 'base' or 'screeding' material do I need. Does it need to be concrete? (I have got a photo of my first attempt (the cement is starting to crack already)) but not in a web/http form needed it seems here. I have put three pictures on my Picasa Google web albums site though (https://picasaweb.google.com/1027941036 ... ingCobbles) if that's any help.

Brilliant - thanks fellas. I'll study that - some very professional work there for sure. Have you got a link to how to get those photos onto this forum ? How did you do it ?

Go to your album. Click on the appropriate picture to expand it. Right click on it and select copy image location or if it is internet explorer click properties and copy the address.

Back on to the forums click the image button above your post and paste the address in.

Let me try that.....

...wow...I just learned something. It does seem that the photos has to be on a web album; I expect its not going to work of course from a local computer. Or of that matter a simple copy and paste job.

Has to be a web link on most forums. Some forums let you upload the photos and they host them but that can eat a lot of bandwidth and get very expensive very quickly.

Thanks again for the photo help Carberry. As regards the cobbles, as expected after reading the link, they've started to crumble off already after just three days, with minimal help. Infuriating. Looking at the link, it seems my channel needs to be a lot deeper with a least two layers and a 10cm thick set concrete before cementing them in on top of that. Previously I cemented them directly over a thin layer of loose pebbles on dirt. Next weeks work !
