Hi All,
newbie here - seeking advice please
I have recently purchased a quantity of Indian Sandstone flags and have a query about how flat the surface of the flag should be.
I appreciate these are natural stone and therefore would not expect a finish any where near that of a patio slab, however I was surprised at the number of flags that had quite large dips/grooves etc. Some of the flags have large grooves/dips over 10mm deep.
Is this to be expected or should I still expect the flags to fit within
certain tolerances
Any advice would be appreciated
rgds
Andy

There are no tolerance standards for imported riven flags, and what you might consider to be overly lumpy-bumpy, others might think of as lacking in character.
Generally speaking, all but the really crap imorted stuff would be deemed as "acceptably riven" by most in the trade.
