Driveway help

Arite all, im lookin for a bit of advice on my driveway. Its 9.8m wide an 6.7m from front of house to pavement.
It currently is a mess, its half a concrete slab an the other part old flags. I want it done with tumbled setts i think they are, but im guessing that would be over £4000 which i cant afford for a good few years.
So i need something in the meantime to make it look a bit better etc. i was thinking of doing the large concrete flags with a border round?
Whats your opinions? Any other cheap/nice looking options. Im a brickie so im used to workin with sand cement stone etc.
Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

tomo if you are a bricklayer setting up levels etc should be second nature to you
if you buy the tumbled sett type block paving it would cost around £1400 for the setts
the only cheap options involve gravel which is pants

Yeah i see your point LLL, its just with the large concrete flags with a border its all on a mortar bed which is obviously what im used to, an due to there size it wont take as long to do which is a plus.
To be fair i havent even priced for the setts, i just presumed they would be far more expensive to do, even by myself.

Its a fair sized driveway and if you paved the whole thing its going to be expensive whatever material you use. Why not put some thought into the design and include a few beds. That way you could reduce the area that needed paving and be able to afford a nicer paving material. new granite setts are not that expensive and would need to be laid on a mortar bed, so you would be able to do the work yourself

I was thinkin of a flower ned type thing at one side to reduce the area, I say setts but i mean like a tumbled pavior block that come in 3 sizes an are laid in a brick type pattern. Ive seen packs that cover 30msq for £695.

A decent 50mm tegula block from the likes of Tobermore would set you back about £15.50m2 inc vat so you're looking at a grand all in for 65m2 although you could spend a lot less on standard blocks. I doubt it's possible to get a pack containing 30m2 it would weigh to much for a grab to lift most packs contain 15m2 at the most but usually 13m2 ish.

What dya mean Dan, as in selling them or recommending them to customers?

I laid some lovely new granite setts last year think they were around 200x100 in size

if tomo is thinking of tegs then it is more block paving
if he were to use real setts they could be laid like bricks on a leanmix bed to string lines and pointed up
