Guys i have a client who is looking for a black/dark grey sawn finish slab. They dont want limestone as staining issues have put them off. Any other options?

There are some lovely black granites and a superb basalt that is a strange but beautiful charcoal black. If they want something native, there's also some of the Liscannor which is very dark grey with turbidites for interest.

If you find out what the budget is, that will help determine just what is and what isn't possible. Good black paving is very "in" just now, hence the popularity of the "Fade To Grey" limestone, but with a suitable budget, it is possible to get 'dark forever' paving stone.

I think i could move the client towards £35 per meter, which isnt too shoddy a budget. I know london stone have a black basalt at £40psqm, is that a form of granite?

If im honest i dont think the modern look my client is striving for really suits his cracking victorian semi, the dental courses etc are stunning, but he has his vision and i can only advise.
Any idea of the cost of that caithness cookie? I cant seem to find an online price which is always annoying

LAPD

if you need a sample of the basalt let me know and i will get one sent out.

We have also got a new tumbled black sandstone in. its a bit more rustic but sounds like it may suit your clients house a bit more than the sawn look. If you need a sample of that to present your client with an option just give me a shout.

There is not a massive amount of sawn black paving products available on the market. The "black forever stones" (basalt, granite and the Scottish Caithness)as the gaffer descibes are much more expensive to buy as they are generally very had stones.
