Working on your own

well, looks like my only full time employee, my kid brother is going off to work for someone else - spread his wings a bit, do you think the job can be done on your own?

I dont really want to employ anyone else, as with our kid if i didnt have any work one week, we had a week off, if he werent my bro i could see things getting tricky.

What do you guys think?

A decent labourer is worth his weight in gold, knocking up donald, then setting out and laying slabs is killer on your own

I've been working on my own for a while now and I hate it. Like Lpad says, its a killer doing everything yourself. Continuity of work is starting to happen so I'll be resurrecting the team sharpish.

The days are too long with no craic.....the highlight of my day at the moment is finding out whats happenening in Ambridge.

i did it over 3 periods for 4 months in total and its a bollox

just getting the tools out and setting up seems to take forever

plus no craic so the days drag

plus there is a HSE aspect to working solo,if you have an accident there is no one to write for an ambulance

Can be done, can get a decent living out of it but boring. I like having someone else there just to chat with or the day drags.

Ah man, looks like im gonna struggle, im not so sure about the not making any profit comment though, the jobs we have lined up are more plant/demo orientated hopefully things will pan out ok

There's plenty of fella's out there would be happy for a bit of casual work and if you pay them under the CIS scheme it's quick and easy with very little admin required.
