Responding to LLL. Actually Gapfast really are quite a bit bigger than ‘a large tile spacer’ and considerabley tougher. Also they are 20mm high so as to get a positive location against flagstones. Give me your address and I’ll happily send you through some samples to have a look?

i can see your enthusiasm kimmy, and your confidence in your product :)
a better idea from my perspective would be a plastic profile so that flags could be gauged for squareness and dimensions
i.e. 300 by 300, 600 by 300, 600 by 600
also a plastic prolife for marking out brickwork on top of piers

good luck
LLL :)

a sample arrive in the post today, cheers for that

very sturdy but my personal opinion is fantastic for DIY but would be too expensive to leave in on a large patio

that said the advantage of using them would be the flags cant be knocks out of position until the paving is completed and the jointing is put in place

I could utilise them as a spacer and keep reusing them instead of the plastic window spacers I use now as these can fall sideways into the joint where as your spacer will sit firmly on the surface of the paving

could they be made as 5mm as we use a lot of the sawn paving which we lay with 5mm joints ?

I keep hearing they are for diy'ers, not heard much good about them from others that have given them a go

Hi Mick G
I can see where you’re coming from re the price (about £1 per m2) but we will be doing trade packs later in the year which will bring the price down. Our experience has shown however that they will save you money as the job can often be done appreciably quicker and also occasionally you can employ less skilled labour.

Again I would agree that our feedback has shown that the paving is far less likely to be moved even when the mortar is still green

Whilst Gapfast are generally designed to be left in place, they can be removed if using natural stone (typically Indian sandstone), hence they can be re-used savings your money - please click on this link to see what I mean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kFBd7DBCzc

Re 5mm Gapfast I find myself agreeing with you yet again! These are in pre-production and will be available from June onwards

Many thanks for your input
