another one of my jobs gone wrong takes a big man to admit, but this has happened on one small section of a very long wall.
you will notice that the beading has lifted off, but my customer wanted to fix that himself prior to us rendering, and i think he did not nail them, he just stuck them with mortar.
thats beside the point. just wondered best way of repairing. chop out the crack and re-render?
wall has been in for 18mths btw, is on a re-inforced footing.

100mm grinder dan
cut the bead and the crack ,check to see if the block work has cracked too
if the block work has cracked you will need helical bars resi grouted in to the bed joints
new bead and make good
btw what is the overall of the wall, around 7.5m is the rough max without expansion joints?
cheers LLL

cannot remember, but its more than that
Its about 1m high, then piers with panels between.
that helical bar thing sounds about right. do most builders merchants stock them??

here you go
thing is if the length is the issue you may need an expansion joint cut into the wall and filled with polysulphide mastic
no one likes to see them ,but they serve a purpose
how come the guy did his own beads?
and they are not normally nailed

thats interseting tony.
Why did he do his own beads? originally we did not price for them. Renderer was happy to do the job without, but the guy asked for them, so he brought them, and spent all weekend attaching them.
It was our brickie who said they are nailed. It makes sense to do what dan says though!
it added £300 to the job, and the customer wanted me to pay for it!! cheek

tony, i suspect you are right, but i recall that where the crack is, is about 3m away from an exisiting brick built gate pier that our wall joins onto
I think he used stainless steel beads. will check in a few months time !
