I have been buying and selling CAT locators for about 4 years now,but out of stock at moment,I have always found radiodection are the best for use and reliability,
I use a radidectetion mk3 which is the grey colour model,with high leval cable strike alert,
some models have depth of cable built into them which is usefull but not to be 100% relied on MSH

if you use a CAT and GENNY and a direct connection to the service in the box on the wall a MDPE gas can be traced buy sending a induced signal down the pipe.this is not for a the average CAT user you need training in this method but can be done MSHDNgroundworks wrote:I think they should do a 'gas pipe' locator

There is a survey equipment place near Chester that does cable locator training. They don't quote prices on their website though which is a shame
