I hate to tell you this smon but we dump better timber than that week in week out
not a lot of people want timber these days
i get rid of a fair wack over the allotments, all the old boys love it for fences sheds etc
but the days when people's dads built stuff in their workshop are over
good luck anyway

Tony well i do sort of have to dissagree on this one its going quite well i have to say slow at times (when its raining) but i suppose we have shifted around an artic load so far...
but having said that what surprises me is the distance some come for it... canvy island, wembly, brixton, is just a few places, but its going and its going to be used so all good...
I have given away artic fulls of pallets, off cuts all sorts of t imebers
but i reached saturation level locally
that wood will burn but may burn a little quick for log burners
good luck with i t

LLL its just crazy yer this wood is free and thats the good thing and i can see a few Mates renting a van to come and get it, but today i had a guy turn up from eastborne with a car and trailer also quite a few locals too .... so now im down to a rigid sized lorry load left...
Try Freecycle, (uk.freecycle.org) in some area (like Cambridge) most items you put up are taken without a day, in Stockport it can take a few days to get rid of items. (Even old bricks and paving slabs are known to be taken of my hands for free)
I was a moderator for luton's freecycle when it first started
it was good at first but in the end it was full of no-marks asking for lap tops and mobile phones
what connects stockport and luton ringi?
apart from the fact i have family in both

I'm on freecycle, not as good as it was 5 years ago.
Like you say too many people asking for luxury good.
Too many no shows when you give stuff away.
I still do it though, I just set my expectations lower.
the original group that i was part of was good, i got rid of lorry fuls of unwanted timber etc etc
but probably around 5 years ago it all went bad after a press article saying "get stuff for nothing then sell it on ebay"
I had loons asking for every single thing on offer and crossposting wanted ads to every group in a 50 mile radius
I gave up after i gave away my daughter's buggy and saw it 30 minutes later on ebay for £20
was taking me 2-3 hours a day dealing with all the no shows and people spamming the lists
so i chucked that and came on the brew cabin instead
