Laying blocks

Hi guys
why can you not use stretcher bond for laying pavers in a home driveway? you use it for tegula pavers etc and why is herringbone a stronger joint, sorry if this question has been asked many times but I'm fed up seeing herrigbone everywhere

that block is fine to lay in stretcher bond basket weave is the only bond I wouldn't use on a driveway.

Herringbone locks the blocks together in two directions. You can lay in a stretcher bond but its not as strong. Ive laid stretcher twice without issues so far

its all about straight joints,with herringbone the longest straight joint is 300 mm
I have seen stretcher bond done and it seems to have lasted but I dont feel it is that nice to look at

its normally the do as you likeys that do basket or stretcher bond

l still can't understand why it is ok for the tegula blocks to be laid in the stretcher bond then, surely that is straight lines or am I missing something, I do understand what you are saying about the herringbone being stronger, I'm just fed up seeing it in every driveway.

It's ok to lay them in stretcher bond, it just isn't the strongest pattern. With tegula you can also get jumper blocks which help lock them in tighter.
