Hi there,

My neighbours driveway which is down 10+ years has always had a stain within the blocks (see image). My driveway suffers slightly from this but not by the same degree. I doubt its an Efflorescence issue considering the age, though I guess its some sort of reaction within the block and as such nothing can be done to rectify?

Opinions would be welcomed.

Thanks

Mike

Just reading up on lichen from the website. Is it something that appears to be growing on top of the block? Cause by looking at the effected blocks this stuff doesnt seem to be surface mounted but rather "embedded" within the block?

Thanks

Looks like lichen too me. After 10+ years the aggregates within block paving will start to show through the surface of the blocks. (Looks like that’s happened in your photo) so the lichen will be embedded in the blocks. Try scrubbing a small discrete affected area with water diluted bleach @ 10/1 and see if that shifts it.

It is just a very dirty drive with Lichen. Easy to get off.
In the main site there is one of our chemical mixes that will remove this, on the stains page I think.
