On the quantity calculator on the main site that tells you how much grit sand to put down over a certain area, it tells me to use 2.2 tonnes for 40mm of grit sand. (to cover 32sqm)

only thing is, if I am putting the bricks proud of the surface to about 5mm above the fpl (to compact down to the FPL) - does that increase the amount of sand I need from my supplier?

(it does say compacted thickness on the calc info?)

As I will then be putting down a total of 45mm (not the previously thought 40mm of grit sand) - or does this calculator allow for this?

I'm seriously fretting as I only have about 2 tonnes of grit sand left and don't want to have to order more before I finished the laying of the sand bed - and then wait another working day for another tonne bag of sand to arrive, meanwhile leaving the screeded base open to the elements etc,

Hope you can help, this job is almost finished - and although happy with the standard of my work thusfar - I don't want to skip on the last few important steps, many thanks.

about 2 1/2 tonnes is right for that area
40mm is a bit deep for me,I aim for 25-35 mm of sand
