not really the craic but 1 of our lads at work has contracted weil's disease
he got it roughly when the lurg was going around so assumed it was the same
but his balance has been going so he went to the doctor and got the diagnosis
before the clamour starts for my head ,hes a chipie and it looks like he got it fishing (goes to the lake for 3 days at a time)

nasty stuff hope he recovers from it. They reckon a lot of people have it but don't know and it's treated like flu or vertigo.

leptosporisis. Deadly. Depending on how long he's had it can be fatal, organ damage can be to advanced. Hope he recovers soon. Always a worry for us drainage boys in the manholes, sewers etc.

I've tempted fate here I was dignosed with it this morning. It hit me like a sledgehammeron monday and within an hour I went from being fine to curled in front of the fire with wanting to die. The fever was horrendous as was the nausea and vomiting but it broke within 24hrs. Now I just feel light headed a bit dizzy sometimes and my back and leg muscles and a bit sore but the most worrying thing is the rash that has apeared at the top and bottom of my leg it very sore to touch and walk on. Been started on drugs and off for some more tests this arvo. Really can't afford the time off just now.

I've not been fishing recently i reckon I got it from clearing the ivy and briars from my drystone walls and hedges in the garden.

Amusing when my brothers balance went thanks to an inner ear infection. He fell off his bike 6 times within a few hundred metres, went to his friends house and got told off for trashing it (he didn't think he was trashing it, but he also didn't realise he had an ear infection). Not so funny for him though because he puked any time he moved in bed.

Hope he gets better. The guy that works for me just got diagnosed with Ormond's disease, it has affected him for 10 years and it has finally been diagnosed after we forced him in to A & E. If we waited one day longer he probably would have died as his kidneys had completely failed, doctors had no idea how he even moved let alone kept on working.

Sounds like it you had diagnosed straight away, Not saying you're not suffering but it might of been a lot worse.
Get well soon!

Been feeling like a cold was on the way from about 10 days ago but it never got worse and was easy to keep going. The worst of it only lasted 24 hrs but it was the worst fever I've ever had by a long way and I'm still in a lot of pain but it's managable now. If thats what it's like for everyone I can't understand how so many go untreated I only go near a doctor when I'm about the die and I knew I had to get seen to or I was in trouble. I think I may be dominating the forum for a while until I can walk again and get out to work. I'll apologise in advance. Thanks for your best wishes by the way.

Apparently there was a big increase in women from 18 to 25 getting it a few years back, they put it down to drinking direct from bottles in bars, clubs etc.....

Know a lad kinda (mate of my mates) who ran a nightclub in glasgow who died from it, rats pissing on the beer bottles but he ignored all the symptoms.

Hope all is better quickly Pablo.
God loves a tryer
