I am obtaining some estimates for a flagged patio and was wondering how much I should expect to be quoted.
Its only a fairly small area 12ftx8ft approx but is a garden area at the moment so a handful of shrubs will have to be dug out to clear the site.
I will need a row of steps (about 6-8ft) to take me up to the level of the new patio from the existing patio which is flagged with heavy duty grey concrete flags so i would want the same for the new bit.
I need an average quote of how much it would cost all in as I have absolutely no idea and dont want to be ripped off. I am in West Yorkshire

How long is a piece of string?
There's no way we can give you an estimate because...
1 - we haven't seen the site
2 - we don't know what type of flags are required
3 - we can't judge access to and from the site
4 - we can't assess the proposed steps
5 - it's far too small a job to use 'standard rates'
6 - contractors tend not to reveal their pricing policy in a public forum such as this.
If you want to avoid the cowboys and get a fair price for a fair job, read the advice given on the main website regarding Dealing with Contractors.
