Hi,
We have received a very reasonable quote for asphalt road. Its a no through unadopted road only 36 meters long but on steep incline. We asked for a light commercial spec. they have come back with spec of 30mm surface layer, 50mm binder and 200mm sub-base. there is no base course which i notice looking through this website is optional anyway. The existing surface is basically mud and stones - a road it has never been built. Is this good enough? Thanks
Clare ???

200 subase, 50 of binder(which is basecourse) and 30mm (compacted) of 10mm surface will be just fine. If there was to be anything heavier than 7500kgs over it I'd want a min of 60mm of base.

Thanks everyone for getting back to me, much appreciated. So glad to hear that the spec is ok as we ran it passed the council and they said it was way too low even though it is for what is effectively a car park. The company we have chosen is very reputable and I trust your opinions over the council! Just need to get everyone to pay for it now. Will post pictures when its finally done.
Thanks
Clare

The spec isn't anywhere near good enough for a public highway but it will be miles better than the state of some of the council run and owned car parks!!
