haggi for PM!

if only it were that simple haggi
1 thing that staggers me is the cost of keeping prisoners in jail
see here for 2008 figures
surely its cheaper just to give them their smack on prescription (and believe me most in jail are junkies)which would cost less than £50 a week
old people's homes are the same ,my nan's was £1250 per week till her money ran out then they shifted her to something akin to birkenhau
she could have stayed in a 4 star hotel full board for that kind of money
the biggest issue is the welfare state and low investment in education and health
the countries that invest most in their citizens health and education are generally the best places to live
switzerland canada germany norway france etc
on the other hand the countries that like to get involved militarily wise i.e. us and the yanks have little to spend on such frivolities as decent homes for old folk

i wonder how much money we have spent in libya getting rid of mad dog ,when the chances are in 6 months all we have done is created another nutter
£1.5 million for 6 months soon adds up to nearly quarter of a billion getting r id of a dictator tony blair was shaking hands with less than 10 years ago
go figure
LLL :O
"what,you want paying today??"

I agree about giving the smack on prescription. At least that way we can massively reduce all the petty crime and robbery.

I'm also sick and tired of councils behaving like businesses. They are supposed to be there to serve us, not to stick cameras in our bins and employ armies of traffic wardens to stitch us whenever possibble.

I also think this country has some major issues with planning laws. I am in France at the minute and you drive into these small towns and they have retained there culture and identities, unlike here where they just smash up tesco's left right and centre ripping the hearts out of communities. We have followed the Amercian route and I think the European way is actually a bit better. People seem a lot more chilled and less stressed.

One more thing as well, we need to cut the public service right back. All the tax we pay is to finance this massive public service we have. Cut the public service right back, reduce tax and the result is people will have more money in there pockets. Money which will be spent giving the economy and the private sector a massive boost, creating jobs and growth.

Oh yeh and lets a build a load more prisons and start punishing all these criminals who are getting away with murder day in day out :D
