have to say that we always lay the sleepers on a crushed concrete bed, that way its free draining and they last longer.

Well thats the base in and compacted, the last bag was a different consistency to the first 5 so have a bit of a flat spot, will have to make ot up with the bedding layer.
Next weekend i will finally be laying the slabs, so big question is now what consistency should i go for with 25mm sandstone, how wet shod the 6:1 be?

Each layer has his own preference, i tell my labourers i want the mix to fold in the mixer at 2 oclock. Thats how wet i like it but you need to over lay the muck for each stone to hold height. And as a beginner you may find if its too wet and you dant lay it out close to the right level that the water muck will sit high around the stone making a mess but you will get a good bond

Got my SBR delivered, am all set to start laying tomorrow, with soggy peanut butter, this is probably a stupid question but I have to ask it otherwise I will be second guessing myself all day!
Should I put plasticiser in as well as the SBR given that its going to be hot tomorrow, or does the SBR also act as a plasticiser as well as improving the bond?
I think after all the advice and reading other threads I am going to do 10 shovel s to 1/2 bag for a strong 5 to 1.
