Had a major stress over the weekend.
Ran into the back of someone on Thursday, minor collision, very minor cosmetic damage to both cars.
Go to settle the cost without claiming from the insurance.
Get a phonecall, the garage has written off her car.
I phone my insurance to make a claim. After being given the run around and cut off twice, after half an hour I get told my policy was cancelled 3 weeks previous, due to non payment. Was told the cancellation fee that I owed had gone to a debt collector, and I had been sent 3 letters and emails previous to this.
I've gone from a minor repair bill to potentially facing a court appearance and driving ban for Driving without Insurance = Major stress.
Go to the bank next morning to check, and yes, the insurance company took the entire £500 odd balance the day after i renewed.
Phone the insurance once again, who now say, that i was insured, always had been, and would process the claim. Had the cancellation fee refunded, and didnt even have to pay the insurance excess, just lost 2 years of my no claims.
A very strongly worded formal complaint has been lodged, and Im waiting to recieve the outcome.
Just a word of warning, dont insure with the Commander of the Navy Fleet, or its sister company, the big grey mammal that never forgets.

my old man had a minor knock when someone ran into him
(well his van was a write off)
within a week he was being constantly called by no win no fee lawyers claiming he could get 1000s
in the end he got 2k and had to give the dogs £500
turns out its the insurance company that passes your details on??
crazy or what

If you aren't happy with their response then follow their complaint procedure before contacting the ombudsman. First thing ombudsman asks is whether you have gone through their complaints procedure or not.Tommy wrote:Had a major stress over the weekend.

I'm with Admiral and found them to be ok when the missus wrote my car off. They gave me an excellent settlement price.Tommy wrote:Just a word of warning, dont insure with the Commander of the Navy Fleet, or its sister company, the big grey mammal that never forgets.
Only gripe is that you need to haggle with the them at renewal time rather than pay what they first ask for but I think that's true of all companies.
