It was a private mine ,so Im lead to believe, so would like to see the HSE's take on the events that lead up to this
Mr Thomas said: “It’s not unusual for three or four families to get together and buy a mine license. [The owners] are probably ex miners. I know a family who were going to buy this bloody mine two years ago,� he added.
He went on: “Years ago the small private mines weren’t as safe as the big British Coal mines. But the last several years, changes have been imposed to tighten up the safety.�
