Saw this today. Not good!

looks like ground heave, pushed the foundation up and cracked the wall, that looks like its inside though from the light

incidentially 2 small cracks have appeared on the dwarf walls of my bay, 102yr old house!!! i decorated when i moved in so werent there then no 2mm wide crack each side. better get in the cellar and have a look

Yes, thats inside a car port/open fronted garage with a steel frame above/around it supporting a second storey above.

that's bad, if it was only the mortar (not good) but the fact its the thermalite blocks have split means somethings really not good.

know a lad who bought a house built by a helicopter loving builder with the founds constructed by (cant say for legal reasons) but they never actually laid any foundation for the house. (it won worst new build uk)

that is why i wont use thermalite blocks,or celcon
chances are they have just cracked through expansion
not worth a carrot IMHO

perhaps looks worse than it is. thinkit was celcon that did a block 600mm long instead of the standed 450mm. these used to always crack above windows and doors. on this build it might be just settlement.

think they were called durox dylan,used them on hammersmith hospital,couldnt see the point really
all those lightweight blocks are crap for plastering on and prone to shrinkage and settlement
when we do demo if its celcon or thermalite it practically falls down

thats it tony, durox, my kitchen exstension is built with them. what do you use for inside skin concrete solids? i thought everyone used the light weight blocks for inside skin.

the ones that look like old breeze blocks
all those super light ones are a sod to plaster and a swine to fix anything to
