Bah! Humbug!
I've spent the past week working on the text for the book I agreed to write. As usual, I've left everything until the last minute and now, with less than 4 weeks to the deadline and there's still 170,000 words to edit down to 120,000, plus 100+ drawings to do. So much for "time with fambly and friends"!
What will 2005 bring? I've had an advance peek at some of the new catalogues and there's nowt that would really causing a stirring in a mason pavior's tool bucket, but there's nothing quite as awful as that Volcano <s>sh...</s> rubbish. :p

I have only seen the Volcano in the brochure. It looks awful
Is it as bad in real life ?
Does the '05 brochure from Marshalls have the stuff from Glee in it.
I quite liked the look of a granite type of pavoir - cant remember the name
I would like to see more new stuff in the brochures - I am sick of the client choosing Driveline 50 in Brindle and Charcoal - It does my head in. Why cant people be a bit more risky in their choices. All they want is the same as Joe Bloggs up the road. I try my best to sell something different - but it seems price is the major factor and Driveline 50 types of pavoir are the cheapest.
At least it pays the bills !!

I've spent over a year trying to find someone that likes the Volcano and is delighted they chose it for their patio or driveway. Marshalls reckon it is highly popular, but they didn't say on which planet that was.
I've not seen the Marshalls 2005 catalogue - they're far too secretive and paranoid to let me see it, but I have seen a few from other manufacturers. The GLEE stuff will be in the 2005 catalogue - the granite-like paving was the Argent, wan't it?
I know what you mean about Brindle and Charcoal, but this is such a bloody conservative country that most people are scared to death of doing owt different. Europe is more adventurous, but it's too far to travel from Cumbria. Did you get anything from Tobermore?
SED? Great if you like big diggers, but it's not really aimed at the paving trade. The best show next year for the likes of us will be External Works at the NEC - that one is definitely worth a visit, if it's anywhere near as good as 2003 (it's a bi-annual bash).
There'll be more about it in the news section later in the spring.
