Sorry for so many separate posts, I'll make this the last one.
Again, below is the overall plan
Manholes 1, 2 and 3 are pretty much redundant. The kitchen used to be a utility room at the front and a kitchen at the back. The rooms were knocked into one big kitchen and the plumbing no longer takes waste water out to manhole 1.
However, the condensate pipe from the boiler does go straight through into manhole 2.
Manhole 4, (below), is in a very awkward position. As you can see I have temporarily laid a paving slab over some bricks as we need a step to get in the house comfortably.
There isn't enough room with that ugly manhole to get a step of any kind built. The only way I can see is to have the manhole moved. The kitchen will be revamped also so I don't mind if the waste gully has to be moved.
I presume that this would be beyond DIY but is it likely to be extortionate? Or is there another suggested way to have a nice looking drain cover and be able to have a step?
The whole of the drive will eventually be dug up in the not too distant future and laid with tarmac or a bonded resin type drive. I will need some kind of french drain or similar as it runs downhill toward the house.
Because of the condensate in MH.2 does this branch of drain from MH1 round to MH3 need to remain open? If it were blocked off would the condensate be so little as to evaporate within MH2? The reason I ask is that MH3 is unsightly and will have to be replaced with the new drive or better still if it could be removed with the drain being blocked off.
im a plumber and no the condensate will not evaporateyou could remove manholes one and two and connect a rodable gully to the existing drain to man hole 3the run between 2 and three shouldnt realy have a ninety bend in it are you certain thats how its run ?
manhole four could be moved but depending on depth could be a major job
the easiest fix is is to install a large step that incorporates the manhole on the upper tread. You could raises the chamber into the step and cover it with a recessed ic. It'll look neat and you'll have lots of room for Jehova's witness's.

I've been looking online for concrete rings to raise it but had no success. A recessed MH cover alone won't be deep enough for the step.
Can you offer any practical adive on how to raise the level of the manhole. Ideally the surface of the step should be about 150mm from the current ground level. And again in an ideal world I would have it running parallel to the house but that's not a necessity.
Yup just take the old cover off and raise it with engineering bricks. If you want to sqaure it with the house then get an 8mm steel sheet cut a hole in it and place it over the chamber then bed your new cover onto it square as you like.
