Right Guys i have got my hands on 66 council slabs. They are brand new 600x600x50mm, i have moved these before i and know they weigh a lot...lol
The problem is they are 10 miles away and i only have a small Combo van.
What would i need to hire to move them in one go ?
Cheers

Wow. Just came across this -
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?....e.co.uk
Looks like they weigh 41Kg each !!!
2706 Kg which is 2.7 Tonnes or 2.98 tons ?????
Not sure what my van max load is, my mate has a transit, old type one.
Think i will incorporate paviors as in link above to break things up.

Cheers Sean reckon a Chinook should do it..
Anyway been reading up on laying them/screed bed. Everyone is telling me stonedust.....
I plan on edging with paviors, cementing a nice 'line/run' of them and screeding bed of them so i have my height, using piece wood with notch cut out to sit on the bedded paviors.
Is it sharp sand i need ?
Do i need a sub base on heavily compacted clay soil ??
Do i need to compact the base with whacker and do i make it so the slabs are slightly raised compared to fixed paviors as with laying paviors and they then compact down and become level with each other...
Cheers

You need to establish a formation level . Ideally you will need a good sub base of dtp1, 40 m bedding then paving. You may find you will need to lay them individually, as concrete flags can vary slightly in thickness. Use a good sharp, concreting sand etc: thanks for seeing the joke, i usually piss people off :;): :laugh:Bilabonic wrote:Cheers Sean reckon a Chinook should do it..
