We have a rather messy poor condition mixed concrete/tarmac drive. We have received a quote to tarmac it and widen by 6 inches which reads as follows (does it look ok ?) TIA
Lay 16m 6x2 kerb edging, lower manhole cover
Over whole area, make good with dense base course bitmac extensions of width etc.
Supply and lay a bitumen tack coat and resurface the whole areawith an average 30mm thickness of 6mm dense wearing course bitmac
I need to understand a bit more

The gist of it is ok, but it's somewhat lacking in the detail....
Excavate for new edging kerbs and cart all spoil to licensed off-site tip.
Supply and lay on 100mm ST1 concrete bed and haunch, 16 linear metres of 915x150x50mm square top pre-cast concrete edging (Type EF to BS7263) to lines and arcs as required.
Break out existing cover and frame to manhole and set aside for re-use. Reduce level of access opening as required and dispose of all rubble. Re-seat salvaged cover and frame on Class II mortar and set to level approximately 3-6mm lower than paving level. 1 item.
Excavate to formation level for extended areas and cart all spoil to licensed off-site tip. (Insert area)
Supply, lay and compact to finished thickness of not less than 100mm, DTp1 1 granular sub-base material laid to falls and levels to extended areas. (Insert Area)
Supply, lay and compact to finished thickness of not less than 50mm, 20mm dense base/binder course bitmac laid to falls and levels to extended areas as required. (Insert Area)
Sweep clean existing surfacing and remove all organic and/or deleterious material. Cart all spoil to licensed off-site tip.
Supply and apply 1 layer of bituminous cationic emulsion tack coat over entire area to be surfaced. (Insert Area)
Supply, lay and compact to finished thickness of not less than 25mm, 6mm dense macadam surface course material, laid to falls and levels over entire area. Falls to be not less than 1:80. (Insert Area)
Clear and tidy site on completion. Remove all debris, rubble and surplus materials.
All bitmac to comply to BS4987
....that way, you know what you're getting and the contractor knows what is expected.
