Hi there,

Hoping someone can help. We've been laying some more slabs today to extend the existing patio area. As we've got closer to the edge of the lawn, we can now see that the edge of the lawn is higher by about 6 inches than the slabs. Can anybody suggest any way of making the two meet please? There will be about a foot to work with between the slabs edge and the lawns edge.

Many thanks!

Cant do anything slab wise in 12 inches, could you not grade the soil down to the flags?

Ive just done a job where the client actually wanted the flags 80mm lower than the grass, easier mowing :) And there seems to be no probs with drainage

Lay some edging
Build a small wall around the edge of the patio
Build raised beds around edge of patio
Lift up the slabs and relay them on a slope
Lay new turf

Some photos and a budget would help

You could use a railway sleeper on edge and then grade the grass down a bit to meet up with the sleeper. Or use a couple of sleepers if you want to keep the lawn flat

hi hattie. Have you taken drainage into consideration? Any of the above sound good, now it's your preference, timber, or brick.

hi . i had the same problem in my back garden a few years ago . i chose the cheapest way to get out of it . i laid edging kerbs to lawn height and finished patio 100mm away from edgings and put chippings into the 100mm .
