I am looking for 1:3 sandstone pavers to use for h

I can find lots of companies selling 1:1 or 1:2 sandstone pavers, I am looking for something like 600x200 so as to create a nice looking Herringbone path.

Am I expecting too much?

Is it practical to cut down 600x600, if so how without have a great labour cost?

Also has anyone got some nice photos of a sandstone Herringbone path with a black rope top edge, so I can check we light the look before committing to the design.

I doubt the black fake ropetop edge would go with the contemporary feel of the long linear natural sandstone personally.
I thnk Steve at Londonstone does some planking-type polished sandstone? might be wrong though.

We dont supply that from stock but have mountains of offcuts of sawn sandstone at our yard which we can cut down to 600x200. PM me if you want any more info ringi

I find it interesting that either of you assumed I was thinking of polished or sawn sandstone rather then raven.

Linear style paving appeared on the market a few years back and the majority of companies who supply it do so in sawn sandstone. The nature of linear paving is better suited to a contemporary style which is why I assumed you were looking for a sawn paving.

The fact that you can only find what you are looking for at a very specialised natural stone supplier in Kent, backs this up.

Seen the Herrinbone path on the Rock unique website and it does look good.

What you could do is buy some raj green locally in a 560x275 size or a 600x300 size and then cut them yourself. If you cut them from the back only half way through and then break them with the handle of a lump hammer you will be able to achieve the hand cut finish on the freshly cut edge.

Or just buy them from rock unique. It only costs about £40 + VAT to get a pallet sent up to the North West. Will probarbly work out cheaper than messing around with all the cutting and its going to be a better finish for sure

Think Steve has hit the nail on the head, you could do this yourself but when you consider the time and effort involved and the skills required it works out a lot cheaper to buy a ready made product.
