Try 100% ''Deet'' or Avon's ''Skin so Soft'' ( honest....)

Been to Kenya recently and used both - didn't get bit once. ( which is unusal as I'm usually the first )

Deet you can get via the net or a bigger M&S.

Just remember to ''Spalsh it all over''...

Cheers.

lagos is quite a pleasant sort of place, nice marina and fish restaurants, good for families and couples, only a couple of miles from where that poor girl went missing :(

where did you go in kenya alan?
I went there 15 years ago to diani beach near mombassa, never again, total luxury for the tourists and poverty for the locals
why does " skin so soft" help? I have used deet in the past but heard its pretty toxic
cheers LLL

Dunno about Deet being toxic - 1st I've heard it mentioned but it worked OK. Me and the missus went for 2 weeks so went straight for 2 bottles @ 100%

'Skin so Soft' came about from my ex - she's a nurse and goes to Africa every two years or so looking after the orphans. It's what the europeans use and works good - especially as they're mostly in the outback and not city bound. Smells better than Deet but I don't know what's in it that makes it work. Early mornings and evenings are the most active time for the mossies so it's a must then - just watch your forearms , neck and feet - but I just used it all over !

We must of been close to you - Baobab Beach Resort on Dani Beach. Stayed there and then flew into the Masi Mara for a Safari - which was amazing. Didn't venture off the Baobab ( which is mint ) but can understand what you're on about. I stayed in Lima, Peru for 6 months have experianced the poverty first hand so I suppose it's very simular.

I do suffer with insect bites really bad - especially at work here - dunno why but there we are.

Hope this helps but from all accounts these are the stuff to use.

I asked one what sort of money he was on,£30 a month and he reckoned that was a great job

cheers for that

Another one here been to Diani, Mombassa. Yeah, the poverty is unreal, what got me though is the local families had nothing, yet the kids were turned out for school dressed immaculately in uniforms! They must really have pride in that!

jungle formula repellant is also good.

Also when we was there, we were on our way back from Tsavo to Mombassa and a big Chinese outfit were putting in a huge new road.
They employed the locals as labour, hundred's of them, most of them dressed in old ripped t shirts and shocking footware. I noticed one guy doing some hard graft with a pick, swinging away, I then noticed he was at it bare foot! The thought doesnt bear thinking about, it made me feel sick!

After the shock, I turned to the Mrs and said, ' never mind catching your foot, I couldnt even stand on the ground he was picking with bare feet!'

ever since me and the mrs started using "bens 100" repellent we haven't had a bite. it is 100% deet but after years of use, no signs of physical damage, but I "wouldn't" recommend drinking it

i went in a group of 12 extended family and friends
one night me and 2 mates went to a local night club "shakattack"
as soon as we walked in we were mobbed by at least 50 local prostitues
I said to 1 aspiring girl, "sorry but it wouldnt be safe" to which she pulled a condom out of her pocket, that looked older than me!

thing was half these girls were just local girls trying to earn as much in 1 night as their families could in a month

plus eating your dinner and a bleedin monkey swoops down and grabs your roll.
saw the biggest baobab tree in Africa, and went marlin fishing but apart from that i couldnt recommend east Africa
oh apart from they had a coin worth about 3P which was exactly the same size as our old 50 P piece :;): :;): :;):
legend has it that someone bought £100 worth of these while he was away for pool tables etc
<cough cough>

Deodorants & fragrances attract mosi's. Something about it on the radio recently so make sure you stink like a turkish keebab shop owner on a hot summers night and you'll be fine.

Enjoy. Al.

aww al you know i love my smellys
i cant go out unless i smell like a tart's windowbox :;):
used deet last year and still got a good few
my tip is never go to bed naked in these infernal countries
i did it once and got a mossie bite on the one eyed bed snake
now that was sore
always seem to get a couple that i scratch and they become infected
last year swarms of them appeared at dusk from under the boardwalk
