Horse tails in new tarmac - Advice required please

Thanks for the replies...in answer to Giles above, yes the horse tails were there before!
The original driveway was almost identical in shape to the top photo...it was herringbone block paved and was gradually sinking where I parked my car. The horse tails were concentrated in a small area, but there was a lot of them.
The Contractor was aware of them and knew I was bothered by them. He was confident that the application of the geotextile and the sub-base would hold them off for good!
By the way, the top photo is quite heavily sharpened in Photoshop which gives the impression that its undulated!
