Does anyone make tapered pavers - Tapered block availability

Hello Brew Cabin
Is anyone aware of a manufacturer that produces tapered pavers.
We are using blocks to detail a stone circle and it looks like we will have tapered (dart) joints 0mm-12mm wide.
We could of course cut the blocks, but reckon it would be neater and probably more cost effective if we could either get them made.

Unlikely anyone would be interested in a small one off run but most munfacturers do circles tegula type circles which are around the £40 mark for 1.5m dia. You could buy a few of them and mix and match or alternatively use Tobermore Setts which are normally around the 90mm so the joints are pretty tight. How big an area of block do you need.

I have a feeling at 1 time you could buy half blocks but the uptake was low as most prefer 45deg heringbone
i saw some beautiful tapered cutting at the reebok stadium around pillars but rather than darts each block was tapered like 100mm down to 90mm about 5mm off each side IYKWIM
lot of work but looked the business
i have used brick cutting services before but its not cheap

The inside radius of the circle is to be 1670mm.
I need to use 200 x 100 blocks to maintain the design.
Is it possible to cut taper blocks with a splitter?

you could hire a table saw and make a jig. think you would cut them in a day.

i have a metal cutting saw (makita £20 on ebay) and i fitted a 12inch blade to it from my stihl saw, it cuts pavers a treat and super fast too. a bit of common sense and it'll cut that lot in record time and safer than using a 9inch grinder or stihl on the floor.

do this at your own risk of course :rock:

For that radius you only need to cut 10mm off one side,you need about 60/70 blocks marked up 10 mm one side and use your splitter but I think only about 30% will cut if you chamfer them as steep as you can the one's that don't cut and just crumble will have a nice line to Finnish off with the saw. bench saw is far more accurate and safe.

you will struggle doing fine cuts with a splitter
a jig on a bench saw with water is the best way

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm sure you have saved me time and maybe some fingers.
The cutting sounded a bit tricky so I contacted a few brick makers and one quoted to supply clay pavers cut from larger blocks at £2.90 each which seems quite fair for a small quantity.
I have another question about flags so I will start another thread on the pavers section.
