We have had an absolute stinker of a week. We've got some roadworks going on across the road from the garden centre and the road works company have been using a hiab to move materials up and down the road. Some moron forgot to put the hiab down after use and went through 3 telephone cables. The result was that we have been without phones and internet since Tuesday. Its just been repaired but we have lost an unbelievable amount of business in what should have been our busiest week of the year. The same company have also gone through 2 power cables in the last 3 weeks. Because of this company we have been without phone and internet for 5 days out of the last 3 weeks.

There are about 10 different businesses on our site. Everyone is talking about suing this company but I wonder if the juice will be worth the squeeze. How do you quantify what the cost has been to us?
I spoke with our insurance company and they said we were within our rights to put a claim in and if the value of the claim was high enough they would then pursue this company. They also said if the value of the claim was not enough then they would simply swallow it and increase our premiums.
I dont mind honest mistakes but going through 2 electric cables and a couple of phone lines in the space of 3 weeks is taking the piss.
BTW Stewart replied to your email. LLL you should be ok to send now

Go after them direct Steve, speak to the other businesses and use a local solicitor for an initial letter from you all collectively (or a standard letter from each of you, you get the idea), split the cost, will only be about £25 each.
