Hi,

first up - thanks for a great resource - it's been a fantastic help and has given me the confidence to 'have a go' at my own project.

Ok - to my question - i'm currently paving a drive (2.5m wide, 35m long) on a 1:4 gradient.

I plan to include 2 drain channels accross the drive to channel any water off to the side.

Should i include a soldier course of bricks set on end and bedded into concrete on either side of the drainage channel or is it enough just to bed the channel into concrete? When i was doing phase 1 (5 few years ago), I was sure i read a recommendation on this - but i've looked and can't seem to find any reference to this now.

any help much appreciated,

cheers,

Yes it would be advisable because the driveway gradient would put a lot of pressure on the channels causing a possible sideways collapse. It would be best if you were to use a cement and sbr bond between the block and the bedding to stop this happening

Can't you divert the water with falls instead as two rows of channels
