Hi guys,
I'm looking for some help. I'm a complete novice and looking for direction.
I currently have a prelaid patio area infront of my patio doors; however i'm wanting to do a mirror image on the opposite side. I've got an idea of what is required however i'm wanting to get it right first time and at the same time keep the costs down.
I have basic cement paving slabs already down - my query is, its going to be basic use, mainly for the bins and the dog to 'walk' about on; i've read the guide on the main page, however i was of the understanding that i would need to lay a dolomite or similar course before the next grade before the slabs (potentially using mortar) however i'm a complete beginner.
Can anyone give me a basic step by step guide or points.
Thanks very much for your time,
Paul

Depending on what condition the sub soil is in, you may, or not need a sub base. Dig down beside the existing slabs/flags to see what build up of materials was used. That will give you a good indication of what it is laid on. If there is a sub base ( i'm guessing that' what you mean by dolomite ) then it is likely you will need one for the new patio. If that is the case you will need to dig out 200ml to accomadate sub base, bedding and flags.
Also read the main index again and again and ag............. :;):
