If i am using machinery, i generally start no earlier than 8.
I customer of mine had a shed installed, and they started at 7 am, and an angry neighbour shouted over the fence that they were starting work too early. they told him its the law from 7 am. so who knows ???

from the environmental health

Where residential dwellings are likely to be affected by noise, the hours of noisy works must be restricted to:-

Monday to Friday: 8am to 6pm

Saturday: 8am to 1pm

Sunday and bank holidays: no noisy activities on site

Instructions should be given to ensure that vehicles and plant arriving at and leaving the site comply with the stated hours of work. health

I know this for a fact as we have had bollockings from them

starting at 7 is dickensian IMHO :;):

I think common sense is the key
most of what i do is noisy, and a lot of the times inside someone's house, you have to be reasonable and take care
if you are digging a soakaway in a field, who is going to moan?

Glasgow environmental agencies paid me a visit when I was building my garage and this is the hours of construction allowed here
Monday to Friday 08.00am to 19.00 pm and Saturday 08.00am to 13.00pm.

No Sunday work unless it is an emergency
Should I require to be making a noise on a Sunday it must be done in the afternoon...

Needless to say there were a few Sunday afternoons that required emergency work to be carried out

For major construction projects the working hours are normally 7.30 -6.30 mon to fri and 4pm sat/sun but it varies depending on location and planning permission.

On some city center sites you can work from 7am-8pm if you want but no plant/demo after 6pm.

Currently doing a job where all noise (within reason, no kangos etc) must stop by 11am. The end user is paying over 1.6m so Its their ball and they make the rules.

we were renewing a fence last saturday morning and the neighbour who was incidently getting a new fence and not contributing towards it, tapped on his bedroom window at about 8.15am to complain we shoulden`t be starting work before 9am, and he and his beautifull adorable and freindly
rottwieller of a wife then informed us to we had no right to step on their land, but we continued to ignore the ignorant pair of Tw++ts and finished erecting the fence

why is it some people want to stop you earning a living. and they were getting a free brand new fence.
You actually have a legal right of access to maintain your property, so in your case, there was no problem.
Sometimes we get ar***oles like this, but its usually offset by some really nice people!

Our only noise condition is after 9am for mowing in and around Student Residences, because we might wake the poor students up...who mostly are still up from the night before.

Have to watch what we do around some of the big bosses offices also, but usually do that first thing.

tossers like you just described just piss me off. build the fence on your land and then paint it orange on his (their) side.

As long as this fence is on your land its criminal damage if they touch it and it should also force him to build his own fence on his land.
