Hi

I am after some advice, I am trying to sort out my garden which is a new build so a complete blank canvas. I have a design that needs approx 35 m2 paving and I would like to use Indian sandstone. I have had a look at ordering online as so much cheaper than marshalls etc but I am too nervous to order without seeing the colours etc in person.

Unfortunately it is too far to visit London stone and the local one, Nustone doesnt have anywhere to view their products, which is a real shame.

Does anyone have any suggestions for viewing paving in the Hull or Yorkshire area? Will travel to Manchester area if there is anything there.

Also, if I was to view a particular colour somewhere but ordered that colour from another supplier would they be similar? ie is Raj green the same from one supplier to another?

Thanks for any advice

Hi guys thanks for the quick replies.

No, I am not going to be laying this myself - that is another task, to find people in this area to ask for quotes! We are new to the area so dont know anyone and noone at work knows of anyone to recommend. Noone else in the surrounding houses have done anything other than have turf laid badly in a square, so I cant ask there either! I have some lists from websites, yell etc so need to contact people - anyone interested, or anyone with any suggestions then please let me know!

Garden has a slight slope so we need to have one step down done, supporting wall probably of sleepers. How far things go after the patio and steps etc depends on cost, we might need to do things in stages! Garden is not huge at around 11m x 11m. Main thing is to get the patio done asap so we can start using the garden.

When I contacted Nustone they didnt give the option of asking for samples so I will get in touch with them again. I could always go and pick them up, or even just look at them so they wouldnt need to send anything out.

Anyway, getting lots of info from this great site and reading other posts, I like to be informed! So thanks everyone for this great resource :)

Its always best to see the stone laid on the floor and pointed up prior to buying. Once its laid its going to be down for 10-20 years potentially, so it worth making the effort. If nustone dont have a display why dont you ask them if you can go there and have a little flick through a few crates to get an idea of the colour. Its not an unreasonable request. Even though we do have a showroom people still want to look in the crates and see what the existing batch is like sometimes.

HI there

Try Heritage Landscapes, not far from you at all..

They came to see us when they were setting up their centre, to see what we had done with displays etc etc

You should get good advice etc as they also have installer teams and designers.

Hi,

Happy to send you samples but can I suggest you may be better getting your landscaper to price the jobs including materials. They can usually get a better price that a retail enquiry.
