Black volcanic sand - specialist aggregates

Hi, having had charcoal coloured blocks laid, i agreed with my contractor to pay the extra cost of volcanic black sand. In the suppliers website they say it has been used successfully as a replacement for kiln dried sand.
it is much more expensive, like 5 times the price (£30 for 20kg) reducing to £15 for 20kg if bought in bulk.
Anyone here have en experince of using it?

Curse of the uneducated I guess....Like I said in my other post I wish i'd found this place sooner. Anyway, now I've had the drive done my questions are going to be retrospective so lets hope i find no horrors.

Is that purely for cost reasons LLL? yep I thought that about 20 sqm, I did ring him and hr acknowledged the mistake, he obviously hasn't fixed it yet.lutonlagerlout wrote:i think i would use normal sand for the first pass of the brush,then top up with the mega bucks black sand
