Pointing and sticking - Swimming pool job

Has anybody had experience using either Flowpoint, or any of its rival variants, with higher spec Paving, i.e Slate, Granite, polished sandstones etc I've been told it can leave residue marking on the surface, does anybody know of this, or recommend products gauranteed not too.
I know I can test pieces, but I thought I'd ask, save the bother.
We mainly use Flowpoint now, had no problems so far, but I have a Swimming Pool project starting in April, and the Designer has specified Brushed finish Sunset Pink Granite Paving and I don't need to F@#k it up.
Also I have to Place some of the Paving directly onto a Rubber Butyl Liner, anybody Know of an aggregate/Adhesive suitable, that won't melt the Liner, won't pollute the Pool(i.e inert) and won't come apart in 6 months time. If we use conventional Mortars, we can't fill the Pool for 8-10 weeks, depending on density of aggregates.

if flow point is the one where u wet up and squeedgy in and leave for about twenty mins and keep hosing it off slabs i have used it mick with no probs.

I use it all the time, but never, so far, on anything expensive. Thought it best to sound out first mate. I've heard it can leave a stain on Slate, but I can't understand why it should. As long as you hose it off in time surely. I've pointed Slate with conventional Mortar plenty of times and as long as you wipe of any spill over it's fine. Maybe I could apply something like LithofinStain stop firts.What do you reckon?

i have only used it on granite paving mick to be honest , as i said it was fine on that . do a trial patch to be sure on the slate

Do you think Tile adhesive would work on thicker Paving,35mm, I've got to dress Treads, Risers, the Floor and Copings/Walkway round the edge. The Copings are going on top of a 450mm wide Block wall and are 350widex600x35mm and are Bull nosed formed in an Oval radius. They are to sit ontop of the Liner and form an edge detail to seperate the Swimming area of the Pool from the Shallow Planting/Beach Area of the Pool. They will take a bit of occasional maintenace Traffic. Will tile adhesive be strong enough d'ya think???:rock:

try aruduit or ball must be flexible and outside use allso webber do one tip for fixing liner on top of wall make some round holes away from edge so addesive comes throught and can not tear use inch pipe sharpend ps make sure liner has been streched by filling first cheers cookie :;):

Nice one Cookie, Problem with the Holes on the outside is the Liner is submerged both sides of the swim Zone, cos were installing a cobble/planting shallow zone outside the Swimming Pool. I'll post a picture of our last one to demonstrate later. Gotta go and beat the nippers first:p

you can still make it work if you have your overspill from main pool lower than top finish :;): when i say outside i mean under coping

Sorry Cookie, I meant to say the whole Coping is submerged, if I Knew how to post images I'd show you. The Coping sits on top of the wall of the Swim Zone, about 150mm below surface, mainly to denote the area andprotect it from damage as the liner is weak at that point, and also to seperate the Cobble/shallows, so I need a strong adhesive that won't melt the Rubber liner, will be srong enough to hold the coping in place and be walked on occasionally and is of course waterproof, not a lot to ask is it!! by the way did you get a job closer to home, and when's the little un due mate?

Pleasae don't upload effing huge photies that take three days to download - you'll only annoy your potential readers. The Brew Cabin is set up to have a width of 720 pixels, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep your photies to a maximum width of 600 pixels. If you really want to impress people with ginormous photies, just provide a simple link rather than distort the carefully designed layout of the Brew Cabin.


So: you have uploaded your photies to your own webspace or a website somewhere out there in cyberspace. To make them appear, as if by magic, in the Brew Cabin, you need to include a little bit of code in your message. Here's the code...

You MUST use the square brackets around the IMG tag, and you must use a closing tag (ie: /IMG within square brackets. The square brackets are the two keys to the right of the P key on most keyboards.

You need the FULL url, so that means the http bit, the www bit, all and any backslashes or forward slashes and the full name of the photie itself. The easiest way to do this is usually to navigate to the photie using your browser, whereupon the FULL url should appear in the browser's address bar. You can copy and paste it from there - easy!

Note: due to the nefarious activities of certain one-handed surfers and eejits peddling drugs, the code does not allow photies from dynamically created sites to be uploaded. This prevents the Brew Cabin becoming some sort of animated billboard for all the crap you don't want. It also means that SOME photo-sharing sites are "out of bounds" and will not work with the above code.

If all else fails, you can always staple your photies to a ten pound note and email them to me at the address given on the website and I'll upload them on your behalf.
