HI all,
I am looking for a bit of advice. My wife wants to extend our garden patio, I have removed the old slabs which were laid on a concrete base. The new bit to add on is currently compacted earth.
Am i best digging down and laying hardcore then concrete to same level as exisiting base or can i just lay a sand/cement mix over the whole area (new and old). The patio is in garden only and will only have people and BBQ on it, no real weight.
Many Thanks in advance for any help

yes dig down and sub base up to existing concrete or youll get differential settlement on the earth side of the patio
