Had a look at the one on ebay, when you add VAT and delivery it's more than I wanted to pay. Would really like to find a second hand one as I only need it for the one job, then can sell it again. The advantage of the pan mixer it can be loaded with a machine and can do the work of 6 mixer loads in one go, as there is already a tractor on site to use.

would it not be cheaper to get a volumetric lorry in?
when they get to multiple metre loads the price gets down to about £70 +vat per cube

I will be using it to mix a bedding for laying setts and will only be able to do a few days at a time, hence my only option is to mix myself, did look at a mini silo but that was way too expensive.

If I can get a pan mixer cheapish and sell it when finished, I am hoping it will not cost too much in the long run.

I have also had a quote for 25Kg bags but that turned out around £2,200, the sand and cement separately in bulk will only cost just under £1,000.

Can you not just Hire a big old site mixer, we do it on large cobble and Paving jobs, cuts right down on mixing, about 3 barrows a go, if I remember right, we fill a 500kg mini dumper up with it and dump a load in one go...that sounds strange for some reason!!

Great idea, was not aware you could get mixers that big as they all look about the same size as my Belle. Thanks for the advice, will see what I can get.

Seems a lot of effort making a hopper when you can just use a bloke and a big shovel. The hopper's gonna have to be quite small at the neck to avoid catching the revolving Barrel, could all get a bit messy.

Don't think it would be worth all the hassle of getting a hopper made, you'd have problems with aggregates blocking, avoiding the Barrel, sticking at the back, all seems a bit complicated when you can just get a bloke with a big shovel.
