try bretts or marshalls register , ask to see recent work and make sure the quote is as detailed as possible
you need 3 quotes for comparison

Cheers matey,
Looks like "reliable" block pavers are rarer than rocking horse $hite around here. (Bazo i mean)
Thanks for the heads up
Tim.

not offering but we charge about 75 per square meter. i think thats fair money and anyone doing it for less must be cutting corners.

Thanks for all the replies lads much appreciated.
I registered with Marshalls & have had 1 quote already with another bloke coming to quote on Saturday morning.
The existing drive is block paved already & is knackered (been down since 1992ish) about 70sq meters.
I want it extended to about 80sq meters & the quote i have includes Marshalls standard Driveline series 50mm blocks on lean mix & sand.
Again any help & advice appreciated before i make my final decision.
Tim.

Any reason why Tony,i have been putting lean mix sub-base down for years in some appilicatins such as wet ground and clay etc etc,2 contractors in my area do it on every job and give 10 year garantee against sinking.....,100mm lean mix fixed cost no over dig MSH :)

I know blokes that do it too mark but according to this site if you use leanmix it becomes a rigid construction
apparently there can be problems with the laying course liquefying
I use geogrid if its bad ground to stabilise the sub base
its a hard call but officially its wrong, although I have seen it work many times

we never lay a lean mix. can look rough as a dogs arse after 10 years. kinda defeats the point of block paving to me, the forgivness of a floating block is the advantage
