Foul and surface water, private drains and public sewers, land drains and soakaways, filter drains and any other ways of getting rid of water.

Afternoon all, my Dad has issues with his sceptic tank and in a few weeks is about to attempt to sort the problem out once and for all. Currently he has a brick built tank with a soak away. The tank itself is apparently fine according to the chap who emptys it but the soakaway itself hasn't worked properly for some time and the most recent attempt by my father has left him on the wrong side of the law shall we say...... He wants this sorted out pretty quickly for obvious reasons and wants to install a pump, a new manhole and a new set of pipes at about 300mm deep in the top soil. A few of the neighbours use this system and it works well, but I haven't been able to find any specifications for this type of system and would feel more comfortable having some before he starts digging up the garden(again) and spending more money. The topsoil is about 600mm deep over some clayish sub soil. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you. Regards Andrew.
