doing a price for a new disabled parking space for nhs job we are on at mo, spec has 150mm long, 12mm steel dowels at 450 centres inserted into the gen 1 concrete then haunched over seems overkill to me, but anyone come across this spec before?
met the chief projector manager today as we are first on site scraping off etc, hes 12 companys higher up than me he deals with the nhs. we were laughing that my 1k price say by the time its gets to him is at like 15k

I occasionally do nhs work making gardens safe for autistic kids cms they're freakin escape artists. Anyway they spec the post holes at 750 square and 750mm deep for a 4 inch post and 6ft fence. Thats bloody crazy I never quote on that and just allow for a 300 Augered hole they Dont check and i would feel unethical if i did anything else. They either love wasting money or they employ idiots who like wasting it for them
Can't see it from my house

Dowels in a kerb line are quite common spec. persimmon homes have just done a new road with dowels like that hear in kings lynn, years ago i was on a road job DOT spec was dowels, i was posted on disc cutter and heap off rebar for 3 days cutting it into 300mm bits....what a job,you will probilly get away without using them but if it spec. include it MSH
paving, mini-crusher, mini-digger hire and groundwork

Spec says insert into plastic gen 1 Crete then haunch over the top so no mention of a day joint, I'll use them as no reason not to butseemed overkill in a filled kerb as well

Reminds me of some clown who said 'we have loads of that (tactile) paving left, if you want it you can have it for £20'
I said
'Oh yeah. And what do I say to all the blind people coming up my path looking for the crossing ?'
