What to redo drive in?

Need to resurface drive. This is a house im selling so not looking for block paving or anything expensive. as the drive is on a slope I'm guessing gravel is out the question? Can anyone advise on a good solution? Also not the tree + it's roots which have popped some of the slabs up. I will probably keep the tree there but try and take out the offending root on the drive.

I'm looking to sell the house in the next 3-4 months so need a cheap and easy option.

easy option tarmac . nothing is cheap when it comes to paving.

I guess if i put tarmac down id need to remove the tree otherwise it will come straight through?

I'm afraid you're right - take the tree down, excavate the roots. Lift the slabs & dispose, dig the drive off to avg 200 deep (depending on whats beneath but I'll bet its nothing to speak of) install fresh subase, fix in PCC edgerline to uncontained edges then 50mm of basecourse and 25mm of surface course.

This will be your cheapest and quickest way to tidy up the driveway. It'll add value to the property without a doubt.

i was hoping not to do that as i planned to spend £10k total on the place...saying that though a new drive always looks smart.

normally the place that you live in you spend the top dollar for the primo finish
the investment you need a sellable finish which in most cases means a tidy 50MM block finish
the prices you had for block already seemed keen
I have done up over 15 places in the last 12 years and a 10 k budget is a tight as a duck's a*&^hole

as access is good on both sites consider using a grab truck to muck away rather than skips they take three times as much for the same price, hence, it will be alot cheaper.

skip 8 yd =£150
grab 15 yd = £250

not much in it mikey apart from you dont have to barrow into the skip

IME its more important to get the overall place looking neat and tidy than spend a fortune on an unnecessary drive,if you are looking to flog it
kitchen and bathroom are very important,decor is next and decor can be done for reasonable money approx 2 -2.5k for a decent maggy and white finish
add around 1200 quid for carpet throughout and you are nearly there

another regional variation then, down here bournemouth it's the
same price for a grab or 8yd at about £180.

so to the op, check it "may" be cheaper for a grab truck.

with a mature garden like that the last thing id want to do is chop the fecking tree down thats been there as long as the house... just jet wash it and relay the crazy paving cheep as chips
