Hi, anyone have any suggestions on how to spread tack coat in confined areas? We have a lot of narrow footpaths next to newly rendered buildings to topp, and the edgings are White! Any suggestions on getting a good spread of tack without splashing, even a watering can seems a little splashy. Thanks
Tom

Are you using the big 220 litre barrels and the trolley pump? Our surfacing lads use a large piece of ply as a screen it's kinda maybe 1m long by 450mm high with handles cut in and one guy sprays while the other moves the screen. That or lots of masking tape.

Can you not base and top them at same time? Eliminate the tack coat?? Daves our asphalt guy

Thanks for that, were topping on existing wearng course so have to to use tack, paths are too narrow too many turns to use barrel sprayer but we could try making smaller protective shutters tO drag along the edges and against the Wallsnand use the watering can. Is there any smaller version of the sprayer we could buy?

If it was me, I would just use a watering can, someone good on it, with a bit of care, Its only foot traffic and as long as i have been doing it, i haven't seen feet, pull up tarmac. as long as you got a bit down, it aint going no where.

9mm ply as a mobile screen is the best and cheapest option, combined with a watering can, together with a decent operative.
