A new big digger show to replace SED, which was permanently cancelled by the organisers last year, has just been announced.

Inaugural bash to be staged at Royal Agricultural Showground at Stoneleigh, near Coventry, in May 2013, it has been given the allegedly catchy title of "Plantworx"

I stayed at the hotel on the actual showground a few years back. I had a very early meeting at BALI, which is literally just around the corner from the hotel, and so it seemed to make sense. I was pleasantly surprised at the relatively low cost for on-site accommodation and the bloody good food they put on, especially the farmer's breakfast!

I think it's a better venue than bloody-miles-from-anywhere Rockingham, so all we need now is commitment from the major plant dealers and manufacturers.

I only went to that "Executive" show the once and felt it was a waste of my time. They didn't really want contractor types and a lot of the kit was of no interest (portable bogs, scissor lifts, etc) so I haven't been back since.

Next jaunt for me, assuming I'm well enough, will be CityScape at EcoBuild in that London next month, but I see that event is being pushed more towards enviro-greenery stuff rather than its previous focus on hard landscaping.
