Setts and cobbles, tarmac, asphalt, resin systems, concrete whether it's plain, patterned or stencilled, gravels, etc.

Hi guys, hope I am posting in the correct area,

We reciently had a new block paving drive installed (with gravel soak ways at the end of the drive)

All was well until next door complained that their edging kerb which is next to our gravel and their tarmac driveway enterance has been damaged.

My contractor says he didnt do it, which I do believe, but has offered to patch the edging kerb with cement.

If our neighbours are not happy with the repair, we will need to replace the edging kerb, is this a big job and will it damage their tarmac part of their driveway?

Also any idea of costs for replacment if I have to pay for it to keep the peace

Cheers

Chris

photo be handy, to establish what kerb it is.

is it block paving kerb edger or big road kerbs?

big road kerbs can be swapped out without damaging the tarmac surface

Hi Mate, I will get a photo tomorrow when the sun comes up!

Its not block paving kerb I dont think, but its not perticually big either... its tarmac on one side and on my side freshly laid gravel

You really don't want to be removing/replacing a 150x50 PCC kerb adjacent to a newish tarmac surface, it will be near-on impossible to get a perfect refitment.

I'd go with the cement (extra rapid) or a proper resin kerb repair solution.

A pic of the damage would be so handy.

Does anyone know if you can get that Feb epoxy kerb repair jollop? We used to have our apprentices wasting hours patch-repairing spalled kerbs with this stuff just to get a job passed by an overly-fussy clerk of works, who I suspected of having shares in Feb. He was completely obsessed with the stuff, and even arranged for a few of us to witness a strength test in what might have been Feb's lab in Manchester.

It's a grey-ish epoxy mortar that claims to cure to a colour match to pcc kerbs. And it's usually applied with a little more finesse than this 'repair' I spotted on me travels....

We get one from burdens that's epoxy based kerb repair did a housing estate rd that was to be adopted any spalled kerbs rejected, must have had a bad batch as most were already spalled when delivered returned most of them.

I'm of the opinion that if you can get to the back of them and break it out you can replace it without any surface damage to the bitmac. Done it many times with rd kerbs with no damage to surface
