Sorry chaps have been offline for a bit. Ironically I've had loads of in-front-of-the-pc time lately, but in a perverse way didn't want to read about works I couldn't do
My ankle started playing up on holiday in August, literally couldn't get out of bed one morning. Asked MRS JB whether I was plastered and fell over the previous night - she reminded me I was the driver!!!
Long story short = specialist took me in at end November for a couple of procedures involving a sodding long needle, an x ray, and a general anaesthetic. Saw some improvement 2-3 days later but steadily downhill after that. Ended up just monitoring my boys, all they could do for half of December was bloody gritting anyhow, so I wasn't much of a loss. We were running lean as it was with the recession and a couple of postponed jobs, saw specialist again and he sucked in through his teeth (Mrs JB told him that was my job not his ). "You'll need an operation it looks like, I'll confirm mid-january. Tell your boss you'll need to be in plaster for 2 months after, then 2 months after I might let you put some boots on and go for a look around the sites".
You can imagine my response - "four months off - that'll never happen - I know the boss and he's a right **** ".
Well, after some time thinking over Xmas I've decided if it needs to happen it needs to happen, no sense storing up problems then not being able to walk in ten years.
Fingers X'd for tomorrow then.....it's D - Day. Hey ho. Sorry for being on the missing-list.

Well, now onto my 2nd (large) glass of wine. On a Tuesday too!
Bearing in mind I'd done little personally for the last 4-6 weeks, combined with my use of a crutch, along with the fact it was feeling a bit better meant although I knew what the worst case scenario was, I was actually half expecting "take another month as you've done and you've got away with it".
How wrong can you get - I knew that the tendon was lousy, and the ankle joint had some scarring. Apparently one of the ligaments is bollocksed too. Basically what he has to do is some keyhole surgery on the joint, then if he's able to at the same time, slash me open to do the tendon and ligament. Usually only 10-20% of cases he can do like that. If it all goes to plan, it's 2 months in a cast then 2 months r & r, but, as is much more likely he has to do it as two separate procedures I am looking at keyhole in 2 weeks (he wanted to do it tomorrow ), then a month r & r, then the big operation, then four months off after that.
So all in all, crap really. Not an option to put off as if the slightest thing happens, then it's "twang" , and if nothing happens I'll be crippled by 50 anyway.
So right now I'm looking into what the hell I can do (as a cripple!!) to support myself for 4-5 months as there sure as hell is nowhere near the profit I would need to carry me as a passenger in my existing business.
