Apparently Stein then goaded Gannon about the scoreline and Gannon responded with a bit of alledgedly racist abuse. Stein then smacked Gannon in the mouth.
Case went to court and Stein was found guilty of assault although the judge conceded he had been subjected to extreme provocation.

Its a bit steep for Caroll, but on the other hand the signing of Carrol and Suarez is a massive statement of intent from the New board and has masssively softened the blow of Torrez's departure. I think its a good bit of business for Liverpool.
