For some strange reason, we get comparatively few posters of the female persuasion in the Brew Cabin (remember Mercedes, anyone??), but around 60-66% of the emails and phone calls that come in are from the distaff side.
A good number run along the lines of ...."My husband was wondering if....", so maybe it's a matter of the lady of the house doing the admin and/or embarrassment and an inability to admit to a lack of knowledge on the part of the man - a bit like the legendary male disinclination to ask for directions when hopelessly lost.

Amy - that was TarMac lady. I haven't heard from her for a couple of years but I know her company had more or less given up on the European market.
As I was discussing with another US-based civil engineer only last week, the roads we build in Europe are far superior to those in the US, partly because we use a 40 year design life, rather than their 20 year span, but also because the understanding of blacktop is more advanced and we have a more competitive industry, according to him, than the "this has worked for the last 50 years" attitude of companies in the States.

Also wish they all still popped in - Tarmac Lady was total knowledge & straight to the point.
Ace seemed ace with the legal side...
As for Mercedes, she was in a few posts, some amazing, new-age great grand-daughter of James Joyce like, with sub-conscious stream of words...but it all sort of held together.
I thought she was a gifted writer.... I'm sure the gaffer will have collated "The Mercedes Papers"
ps - just found the best...
