Sealant question

Patio flagstones (slabs), concrete flags, stone flags including yorkstone and imported flagstones.

Can any one recommend a gloss/wet look sealant for Indian sand stone that will be able to withstand the heat from a wood/coal burning stove being placed 200mm away from the sealed sand stone? I’m not sure if regular sealants can withstand heat, and I am not aware of any problems excessive heat could cause either, so thought it best to ask the question before buying a sealant and making a mess of my Mrs.’s fire surround. Any one got experience or advice on this? Cheers Ken.

I'd opt for an impregnator as that is less likely to be affected by the heat. As for the wet-look, I'm less certain, but I'd guess that Swiss-Seal would be the obvious choice.

What about stain stop plus from lithofin. Its an impregnating sealant which also enhances the colour

Can't remember of hearing Swiss-Seal on here before.
Are they a new company?

Both the sealants Swiss seal sell both state “do not use on Indian stone� (unless im looking in the wrong place!), so I will have a read up on lithofin’s products. Cheers ken.

Do they? I could have sworn I saw them being trialled 18 months ago on Indian sandstone, limestone and granite by a very reputable supplier, and with good looking results, if you're into that glossy kind of finish.

Yep: my notebook says Swiss-Seal, but no other product detail. I wonder if it was a new product?
